The MD-80 was once a very popular plane in Alaska's fleet, but will soon be retired from the fleet as Alaska transitions to use all Boeing 737s on the mainline.Most people prefer the two-seat side, since there is no middle seat. However, on relatively empty flights, those seated on the three-seat side often can enjoy having a vacant middle seat.
The cabin divider is just a curtain, and when the seat in front reclines, some passengers feel that the curtain is too close to their face.
Keep in mind that with two tail mounted engines, the rear of the plane is quite noisy.
