The Boeing 747-400 is the former flagship of Air France, and will gradually retire from the fleet around 2012.

Configured in two classes of service, Business Class is equipped slanted flat sleeper seats and in-seat 110V power ports.

Economy class (called Tempo by Air France) is most desirable in the upper deck, where there are two inches more legroom. For elite members of Air France's Flying Blue program, there is no extra charge for the upper deck seats. For other passengers, there is a €50 surcharge for these more spacious seats.

Several of the Air France Boeing 747-400s have been retrofitted with AVOD (Audio Video On Demand), however, it is not possible to tell which of the refitted planes will be on a given flight.
