Comments

AirTran flies only two models, a Boeing 717-200 and Boeing 737-700. The Boeing 717-200 is a modern version of the venerable McDonnell Douglas DC-9/MD-80 family, which evolved into the 717 when Boeing bought McDonnell Douglas. The engines are mounted by the fuselage near the tail, making the rear of the plane relatively noisy.

No meals are served on any AirTran flight in any class, although beverages and light snacks are available.

Most people prefer the two seats on the left side of the plane, since there is no middle seat. However, on relatively empty flights, those seated on the DEF side have a good chance of sitting next to an empty middle seat.

The cabin divider is just a curtain, and when the seat in front reclines, some passengers feel that the curtain is too close to their face.

Note that AirTran has a paid upgrade policy and passengers can upgrade on the day of travel to Business Class for $50-$100 (depending on the length of the flight), based on availability.
